Course Overview

The course prepares students for progression to year 3 of an appropriate degree, RQF level 6.

Course Composition

8 modules (plus English modules, as necessary)
60 guided learning hours per unit (480 in total)
90 recommended personal study time per unit (720 in total)

Total expected hours: 1,200

Guided learning hours may be provided as lectures, seminars or tutorials. Some lessons may be delivered online.

Course Duration

36 teaching weeks, usually spread throughout the year.

Entry Requirements

• Qualification: HNC / International Year 1 in Computer Networks and Security or equivalent.

• English Entry Qualification: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent / CEFR B2 – Pass in all skills.

• Minimum Age: 18 years

Entry Points

Students can join the course in September and January. Applications for other start dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis after assessing the individual’s prior learning.


Upon successful completion of the course you will be presented with an ETC International Year 2 in Computer Networks and Security.


Graduates of this course will receive 120 credits. 240 credits are awarded in total after successfully completing both Year 1 and Year 2.

General Level /
Experience of Staff

Staff hold a relevant qualification at least one level above the subject level they are teaching and hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Staff come from a range of backgrounds, including academic and industry specialisms. From time to time we may invite guest lecturers or subject specific specialists to take lectures / seminars.

Staff teaching English modules hold a CELTA or CertTESOL qualification.

About This Course

The ETC International Year 2 in Computer Networks and Security course is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills to follow a relevant degree or career path.

Assessment may take the form of individual and team based projects and presentations / seminars, tests, personal learning journals, exams, continuous assessment, portfolios, mind maps and organising events, which are all based on the college fair assessment policy.

Tuition fees for new students

£16,600 (this includes a £100 non-refundable enrolment fee).

Tuition fees for existing or continuing students

£16,500 per annum


A range of books are recommended to supplement teaching and are purchased at the discretion of the student. Students are tested in English and IT after registration at ETC. Additional English classes are included in the cost, if required.
