Course Overview

The course prepares students for progression to year 2 of an appropriate degree, RQF level 5.

Course Duration

36 teaching weeks, usually spread over 1 year.

Entry Requirements

• Qualification: Foundation RQF Level 3 or
Equivalent (A-Levels / High School Diploma)

• English Entry Qualification: CEFR B2 / PTE Academic 51 / IELTS 5.5 (reading and writing must be at least 5.5)

• Minimum Age: 18 years

Course Composition

8 modules + Academic Study Skills & English for Academic Purposes, as necessary)

60 guided learning hours per unit (480 in total)
90 recommended personal study time per unit (720 in total)
Total expected hours: 1,200

Guided learning hours may be provided as lectures, seminars or tutorials. Some lessons may be delivered online.

Certificate

Upon successful completion of the course you will be presented with a Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

Credits

Graduates of this course will receive 120 credits.

Entry Points

Students can join the course in September and January. Applications for other start dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis after assessing the individual’s prior learning

The BTEC Level 4 HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineering course is aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills to follow a business degree or follow a career path in business

Assessment

Assessment may take the form of individual and team based projects and presentations / seminars, tests, personal learning journals, exams, continuous assessment, portfolios, mind maps and organising events, which are all based on the college fair assessment policy.

General Level/Experience of Staff

Staff are qualified to at least one level above the level they are teaching and hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Staff come from a range of backgrounds, including academic and industry specialisms. From time to time we may invite guest lecturers or subject specific specialists to take lectures / seminars.

Staff teaching English modules hold a CELTA or CertTESOL qualification.

Fees and Other Relevant Costs

Tuition fees for new students

£14,813 (this includes a £100 non-refundable enrolment fee).

Tuition fees for existing or continuing students

£14,713 per annum.

Prices include BTEC Registration Fee

Field Trips

Costs will be charged as incurred, but will not exceed £200 per annum. Field trips are optional and do not contribute to the overall assessment.

Books

A range of books are recommended to supplement teaching and
are purchased at the discretion of the student.

Academic Study Skills & English for Academic Purposes lessons are included in the cost should the student request these for progression purposes.
