The course prepares students for progression to year 3 of an appropriate degree, RQF level 6.
• Qualification: Foundation RQF Level 3 or
Equivalent (A-Levels / High School Diploma),
must include Maths & Science to level 3,
equivalent to grade C or above
• English Entry Qualification: CEFR B2 / PTE Academic 51 / IELTS 5.5 (reading and writing must be at least 5.5)
• Minimum Age: 18 years
• 60 guided learning hours per unit (480 in total)
• 90 recommended personal study time per unit (720 in total)
Total expected hours: 1,200 per year
Guided learning hours may be provided as lectures, seminars or tutorials. Some lessons may be delivered online.
Upon successful completion of the course you will
be presented with a Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher
National Diploma in Software Engineering.

Graduates of this course will receive 240 credits.
Students can join the course in September and January. Applications for other start dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis after assessing the individual’s prior learning.

The BTEC Level 5 HND Computing (Software Engineering) course is aimed at providing students
with the knowledge and skills to follow an engineering degree or follow
a career path in computing.
Students will study content in relation to the following subject areas:

Assessment may take the form of individual and team based projects and presentations / seminars, tests, personal learning journals, exams, continuous assessment, portfolios, mind maps and organising events, which are all based on the college fair assessment policy.
General Level/Experience of Staff
Staff are qualified to at least one level above the level they are teaching and hold a relevant teaching qualification.
Staff come from a range of backgrounds, including academic and industry specialisms. From time to time we may invite guest lecturers or subject specific specialists to take lectures / seminars.
Staff teaching English modules hold a CELTA or CertTESOL qualification.
Fees and Other Relevant Costs
£16,544 per year. Enrolment fee: £100 (applicable to new students only, payable only once).

BTEC Registration Fee: £278 (payable only once)
Costs will be charged as incurred, but will not exceed £200 per annum. Field trips are optional and do not contribute to the overall assessment.
A range of books are recommended to supplement teaching and
are purchased at the discretion of the student.
Academic Study Skills & English for Academic Purposes lessons are included in the cost should the student request these for progression purposes.
